‘সড়ক পরিবহন আইন, ২০১৮ কার্যকর হয়েছে । সড়কে আইন লঙ্ঘন করলে নতুন আইনে সাজা দেয়া হবে।
অবহেলায় গাড়ি চালানোতে গুরুতর আহত বা প্রাণহানিতে সর্বোচ্চ পাঁচ বছর কারাদণ্ড বা অনধিক পাঁচ লাখ টাকা জরিমানা বা উভয় দণ্ড
উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত হত্যাকাণ্ড প্রমাণ হলে সর্বোচ্চ সাজা মৃত্যুদণ্ড
লেন ভঙ্গ ও হেলমেট ব্যবহার না করায় অনধিক ১০ হাজার টাকা জরিমানা
ড্রাইভিং লাইসেন্স ছাড়া গাড়ি চালানোয় ছয় মাসের জেল ও ২৫ হাজার টাকা বা উভয় দণ্ড
নিবন্ধন ছাড়া গাড়ি চালানোয় ছয় মাসের জেল বা ৫০ হাজার টাকা বা উভয় দণ্ড
ফিটনেসবিহীন গাড়ি চালানোয় ছয় মাসের জেল বা ২৫ হাজার টাকা বা উভয় দণ্ড
নতুন আইনে ট্রাফিক সংকেত ভঙ্গের জরিমানা ৫০০ থেকে বাড়িয়ে সর্বোচ্চ ১০ হাজার, হেলমেট না পরলে জরিমানা ২০০ টাকা থেকে বাড়িয়ে সর্বোচ্চ ১০ হাজার টাকা করা হয়েছে। সিটবেল্ট না বাঁধলে,
মোবাইল ফোনে কথা বললে চালকের সর্বোচ্চ ৫ হাজার টাকা জরিমানা দিতে হবে।

‘Road Transport Act, 2018 has come into force. Violation of the law on the road will be punished by the new law.
A maximum of five years imprisonment or a fine of not more than five lakh rupees or both for causing serious injury or death due to negligent driving.
The death penalty is the maximum punishment if the motive for the murder is proved
A fine of not more than Tk 10,000 for breaking the lane and not using the helmet
Driving without a driving license carries a six-month jail term and a fine of Rs 25,000 or both
Driving without registration is punishable by six months in jail or Rs 50,000 or both
Driving without fitness is punishable by six months in jail or Rs 25,000 or both
Under the new law, the fine for violating traffic signals has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 10,000 and for not wearing a helmet from Rs 200 to Rs 10,000. If the seatbelt
is not fastened, the driver will have to pay a maximum fine of Rs 5,000 for talking on a mobile phone.
